Tadami Line (from Aizu Yokota Sta. to Koide Sta), Fukushima to Niigata (February 21st)

The view from the window of the inn. You can see the Tadami River.

We slept pretty well during the night. After the breakfast, the owner of the inn gave us a ride to the Aizu Yokota Sta. and we caught the train to Koide Sta. in Niigata. We enjoyed beautiful scenery with snow from the train. Here is the timetable...

★February 21st, SUN
Aizu Yokota Sta. (8:29 - Tadami Line - 10:13) Koide Sta. (10:27 - Jouetsu Line - 10:36) Urasa Sta. (10:49 - Shinkansen - 11:54) Oomiya Sta. (12:00 - Shounan Shinjuku Line - ) Shinjuku Sta. - Musashi Skai Sta. (around 13:00)

Ooshio Hot Spring, Oku Aizu, Fukushima (February 20th)

Minshuku Tatsumi-sou. The owner came to the Aizu Yokota Sta. to pick us up.

From Honna Sta. we took the train to Aizu Yokota Sta. Then the owner of the inn, where we would stay that night, came to pick us up. We were the only guests there. After leaving our bags, we took a walk to find the well of natural sparking water in the neighborhood. We could find the well, but we forgot to bring some empty bottles with us. So, we just drank the water using the hands. It was really amazing! It tasted like Perrier! It was pretty interesting to see the water with bubbles come out from the bottom of the well!

Ooshio Hot Spring. Right by the inn we stayed. The inn has no bath, so we used this public bath for free.

Yugura Hot Spring, Oku Aizu, Fukushima (February 20th)

The road to Yugura Hot Spring.

After taking the Aizu bus back to the Aizu Kawaguchi Sta., we had lunch at the restaurant Ofukuro. And then we tried to get a taxi, but they wouldn't answer the phone. So, we started to walk to the Yugura Hot Spring. After a while, a young man stopped his car and gave us a ride to near the hot spring. After bathing in the Yugura Hot Spring, we walked back to Honna Sta. From there we took the train to Aizu Yokota Sta., where is close to our inn.

The water was slightly beige.

This place was covered with brown stuff, too.

The water felt pretty smooth.

Hachimachi Hot Spring & Tamanashi Hot Spring, Oku Aizu, Fukushima (February 20th)

The view on the way from Aizu Kawaguchi Sta. to Hachimachi Hot Spring and Tamanashi Hot Spring.

After we arrived at Aizu Kawaguchi Sta. we started to walk to the first hot springs; Hachimachi (八町温泉) & Tamanashi (玉梨温泉) Hot Springs. We walked 20 or 30 minutes and then some woman stopped her car and gave us a ride to the hot springs! Rinding in the car, we both felt that it seemed much longer than it looked on the map.

Heavy snowfall around that area.

Another shot taken when we were walking from the station.

Tamanashi Hot Spring.
This water was really interesting. First, it smelt like iron like the one in Hachimachi Hot Spring. Second, when we just entered the water, it felt squeaky. When I checked the surface of the water closely, I found that something like oil was floating. Even the surface of the water basins was coated with oily stuff. Third, it contained CO2 gas. Especially the spot where the water comes out of the pipe, we could feel the bubbles.
